Although this festival does not take place in Europe, it is important to mention it because of the history and the scale of this event as well as the recent news around this festival.
Fifty years ago, a festival was held in Bethel, New York, which was to be perpetuated forever in the American imagination. The 1969 Woodstock Music and Arts Festival defined the era of the hippiedom, often seen as the pinnacle of rock'n'roll and free love, with superstars like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Santana. Fifty years later, one of its original organizers wanted to pay tribute to Woodstock, a festival bringing together a host of old and new musical acts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the weekend and its promises of peace, love and music.
